It is important to create a balanced diet! Your body functions best with nutritious meals. The USDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has created MyPlate, a basic model intended to help people visualize how a balanced meal should be structured.

Recommendations range depending on age and gender!

 

Fruits: ½ – 2 cups

Vegetables: ⅔ – 3 ½ cups

Grains:

Total grains: 1 ¾ – 6 ounces

Whole grains: 1 ¾ – 6 ounces

Protein: 2 – 6 ½ ounces

Dairy: 1 ⅔ to 3 cups
