ASSEMBLE:

  • Cookie Sheet
  • Cookie/Melon Scoop
  • Wooden Skewers
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Watermelon

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 lb seedless watermelon  $2.95
  • Wood skewers $.60 ($4.99/100 count)
  • Parchment paper $.10 ($2.98/30 sheets)
  • Saran/plastic Wrap $.10 ($2.98 roll)

 

Fun Facts About Watermelon!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Use a Mellon baller/spoon to carve out balls from one half of a watermelon. Note: The melon balls don’t have to be perfect!
  2. Scrape out any left over watermelon left over (no watermelon left behind!) Feel free to eat the scraps. They are perfectly good!
  3. Place parchment paper on a baking pan.
  4. Stick the watermelon on skewers. Make sure the watermelon skewers are not touching!
  5. Cover the pan with saran/plastic wrap when finished.
  6. Place the watermelon skewers in the freezer for AT LEAST 4 hours.
  7. Before eating, let the watermelon skewers thaw for about 10 minutes before eating. Then, you can enjoy your “popsicle”!

Tip: If you don’t finish them, you can store them in a ziplock bag in the freezer too!

  • Such an easy and fun idea! Thinking of all the variations of freezing fruit on a skewer!
    Raspberries? Cantaloupe? Kiwi? Blueberries?
    Pineapple?
    I wonder how long they will last in the freezer?

    • It lasts for a year if stored correctly. A tightly closed ziploc bag with minimal air in the freezer is the best form of storage.
