LET’S GET COOKING! ROASTED CHICKPEAS

ROASTED CHICKPEAS:  EXPERIMENT & MAKE THEM YOUR WAY!

BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE OF FLAVORS. 
TRY SPICY!  TRY SALTY!  TRY SWEET AND SALTY!

ASSEMBLE:

  • oven or toasting oven
  • cookie sheet/measuring spoons/spatula
  • Ingredients

INGREDIENTS:

  • can of chickpeas (drained & dried)
  • 3 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • cumin
  • chili powder
  • sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (optional) 

 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400º.
  2. Drain and thoroughly rinse /dry chickpeas.
  3. In a bowl, toss the peas lightly in cooking oil.
  4. Then add the spices to continue coating the peas.
  5. Add an optional tablespoon of maple syrup.  Play around with the spices!
  6. Arrange the peas in one layer on a baking sheet and bake about 20-25 min until the chickpeas are crisp and crunchy.

HINT:  If the peas are touching on the pan they may not get crunchy.  If they get soft, reheat them in a low temp oven for about 10 min.

This is a protein packed classic healthy munchie that’s so easy to make.
